HYDRAA, also known as the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency
HYDRAA, also known as the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency, is a newly established governmental body in Hyderabad, Telangana, focused on disaster management and asset protection. Formed by merging various functions of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other local bodies, HYDRAA is designed to oversee disaster response, asset monitoring, and logistical support across the Telangana Core Urban Region (TCUR), which includes Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajgiri, and Sangareddy districts.
HYDRAA operates through three primary wings:
- Asset Protection Wing: This division safeguards public assets like parks, roads, and lakes from encroachments and ensures compliance with building and planning regulations.
- Disaster Management Wing: This wing is responsible for responding to emergencies and coordinating with national and state disaster management agencies. It also manages databases for future disaster risk assessments.
- Logistical Support Wing: This division handles staff recruitment, office administration, and procurement of necessary equipment and vehicles for operations.
HYDRAA’s jurisdiction covers the entire area up to the Outer Ring Road (ORR), making it a crucial entity for urban management and disaster preparedness in Hyderabad (Telangana Today) (Telangana Today).
